New PR firm to focus on higher education and diversity

Washington, D.C., Feb. 9, 2010—Experienced communications professional Tia T. Gordon has formed TTG+Partners, a boutique public relations consultancy. The firm focuses on providing niche communications services with special emphasis on diversity in higher education. The new agency comprises a network of accomplished communications professionals led by Gordon with expertise in media relations, branding, social media and interactive marketing, and strategic communications.

With nearly 15 years of executive-level communications experience, Gordon is recognized as a leader and innovator in the areas of media relations, crisis management, diversity and inclusion, and strategy development. Prior to launching her consulting firm, Gordon worked as an independent consultant as well as in senior-level positions at nonprofit and for-profit organizations including managing director of communications and marketing at the Institute for Higher Education Policy (IHEP), senior publicist of education initiatives at PBS, and director of communications and diversity initiatives at the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA). She holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Columbia Union College and a master’s degree in public communications from American University.

“TTG+Partners was created with the idea of becoming a full partner with various clients—by providing niche communications services—to produce results that are clear, decisive, and have a profound organizational effect,” said Gordon. “In the spirit of Black History Month, we also felt the timing was perfect to launch TTG+Partners because of our passion and commitment to help leverage and garner greater attention for organizations working hard to support all underserved communities of color.”

TTG+Partners serves corporations, governments, trade associations, and nonprofits. Following are testimonies from past and current clients who have worked with Gordon:

+ “We wanted to raise the visibility and increase the impact of our work, TTG+Partners made our vision a reality,” said Michelle Asha Cooper, Ph.D, president, IHEP.

+ “Tia is a consummate professional. We expected—and have gotten—great results,” said Arnold L. Mitchem, Ph.D., president, Council for Opportunity in Education.

+ “I have had the opportunity to work with Tia for many years and can personally attest for her professionalism, creativity, and business savvy,” said Kathryn Potter, senior vice president for communications and marketing, AH&LA.
